TikTok users are praising the Mario Kart soundtrack.
As a student, you have to struggle with deadlines, and it sometimes feels like your brain freezes and the document isn't getting fuller with text. Some people like to listen to music while they're fighting the time, some like it quiet, and then some people listen to the Mario Kart soundtrack. Where did I see this? The answer is TikTok. The app is everywhere. You can say whatever you want about it, but it definitely has some exciting content.
Many students on TikTok say that if you listen to the track "Starman," you will type words a lot faster. The song plays when you use an "invincibility star" in Mario Kart. The invincibility star makes the character go as fast as they can, which sounds very similar to students staying up late trying to complete schoolwork as quickly as they can. It also sounds equally stressful. The students claim that this tense, fast music helps them write faster.
This may sound crazy to some, but music can positively or negatively affect our workflow, and it's proven that instrumental music in a workplace can enhance the workflow. The same test that proved this also said that background music with lyrics can harm concentration and attention.
So, who am I not to try this Mario Kart trend? I listened to it while writing this blog post. I could only take it for 16 minutes and 43 seconds because I started to feel nauseous, so I had to stop. But I must say that I worked incredibly fast during these 16 minutes and 43 seconds. I wrote a lot of words plus read some research.
I recommend it as a fun thing to try, but I'm also going to give you some other music tips for studying.
Here is a Spotify playlist with some Lo-fi music:
